Who We Serve

Youth Changemakers

At Find the Light, young people are at the heart of everything we do. We create spaces where youth can connect, learn, and grow alongside peers who understand the challenges of balancing mental health with the demands of school and life. Through mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities to take an active role in advocacy, emerging leaders gain the confidence and tools to become changemakers in their communities. By joining our programs, they don’t just find support—they become part of a movement that empowers youth voices and builds lasting resilience.

Eligibility

Find the Light’s Board is open to young people who are:

  • Ages 12–24 (typically middle school, high school, or undergraduate students)
  • Primarily reside in the Greater St. Louis area (visiting college students included)
  • Passionate about mental health advocacy, leadership, and community impact

We welcome applications from students and non-students alike within this age range who feel called to serve.

Note: If you are a college graduate or working professional, we’d still love for you to be involved! You may be a great fit for our Professional Advisory Board or as a volunteer supporting our programs and events.

Services

Our work extends beyond individuals to the broader systems that shape their well-being. Find the Light advocates for policies that prioritize youth mental health and equips communities with accessible resources, trainings, and educational tools. From hosting public events that connect families with local providers to engaging lawmakers with student-led testimony, we work to reduce stigma and create environments where mental health is openly supported and encouraged. By bringing together educators, families, nonprofits, and policymakers, we strengthen the safety net around every young person.

Resources

The Find the Light Foundation’s Resources Department creates services that innovate in mental health resource access, helping people get the help they need faster. Some of these services have local, regional, and national reach. Visit the Resources Department to learn more.
